Description
SOLD This bass is available by commision.
A French style Bass inspired by Francois Rabbath’s, Charles Quenoil double bass. Ben has now made several instruments based on the dimensions of this instrument. This is the most recent and is made from flamed European Maple and bearclaw Spruce. It has a raised saddle, lightweight tail piece, Belgium bridge and ebony handles on the Rubner French machine heads. The fingerboard is angled in slightly, making the player more comfortable and the neck is thin and easy to play but strong (reinforced with a carbon fibre truss rod). The ribs are a little deeper than the standard Quenoil giving a full bottom end.
It is also a detachable neck double bass and includes a light weight flight case. It has a powerful focused sound and demonstrates the high standard of Ben McLachlan’s workmanship. In 2015 this bass won the Silver Medal for tone at the International Bass Convention in Colorado, USA.
